I love dark, twisting, intricate paintings. However I do not have it in me to paint things like that. I’ve tried and they look comical or cartoony. So, better to stick to painting happy things! Starting with this – Breakfast in the Sun. A cafe solo with a tostada loaded with fat juicy tomatoes, olive oil and chunky salt is a great way to start the day. YUM. I chose the background colours because they’re fresh, and they are the colours of the fresh oranges and bright blue summer sky of Seville.
